Submit an object
The register asks for a description and a history, not for the object. Almost everything entered here stays where it is.
Write what you know and mark what you do not. A submission that says plainly where its account ends is more useful than one that fills the gap. If you are repeating something you were told, say who told you and when.
Your submission is read, not published. If the object is entered into the register it receives a permanent number, and you are told what that number is and how your account will be attributed before anything appears. You will get a receipt number straight away, and a copy of what you sent by email; that only confirms the message arrived.
What happens to your details is set out on the privacy page. In short: the contents are emailed to the register and not stored on this server.
The terms of submission say what the register may do with what you send. The short version: you keep your photographs and your words and may use them anywhere else, the register may publish them as part of the object's record, and your name can be taken off that record later, at any time and without giving a reason.
If you are writing about a record that already exists, or about anything other than an object, the contact page says where to send it.
